Incidentally Vefa Sultan is produced by the same team producing Mehmet Fetihlar Sultani, there is even a cameo appearance of Sultan Mehmet played by the same actor in Vefa Sultan, quite nice, I am on 4th episode & I like it so far so good, it’s a short series but I learn a lot about Turks contribution to Sufism in well made well produced Dervish stories, Vefa Sultan is one of them I think…

Mehmet Bozdag has great difficulties finding a balance between action & romance, he used to get it & have it in Dirilis Ertugul, Kurulus Osman, & Mendirman Jalaluddin, even with some caveats in Destan, but he seems now to have completely lost it with Kurulus Orhan, & with a series he gave the name of Ask ve Taht whose name Love & Throne betrays that it will focus on romance rather than biography history of true warriors who shaped the future of the World & Islam in a very profound way. I do not know what is going on with him, is he trying to sabotage the history of Turks’ Muslim legacy, I hope this is not the case, but people find it, found it insulting to that memory the way he portrayed Orhan, then Allaedin Keykubat in these two last series, & gave a very sharp strong verdict that they are not interested in the way he tackles Muslim historic biographies anymore. He can learn from Mehmet Fetihlar Sultani to find a better balance between action & romance, until then they will not trust him with series of action chronicling Turks history. This is a failure he needs to learn from, or turn to making romantic TV series that have nothing to do with history & appeal to the teenage TikTok generation. I have not yet watched this 5 episodes, & frankly prefer to watch Vefa Sultan, at least I know what to expect & learn more about Islam & Sufism & how Turks contributed to it. Maybe the death of his father has so badly affected him that he need some space until he can handle producing better quality Islamic TV Series on important Turks figures in Islamic history. For now until he gets his sense back he should just take time for reflection on what is proper to do when filming chronicles of Turks history, romance is a minute part, action is the driving force, not the opposite. That’s my honest point of view. Also stop using ATV, TRT are much better at handling Biography TV Series. Will he heed what the writing on the wall says to him? I pray Allah he does, unless G-d forbid, his intent is to sabotage Islamic Turks history…

This first episode is magnificent, this is what I call cinematic grandiosity, I have a beef with Bozdag who squandered that ability he had with other series spoiling the Orhan series he massacred, really he must have had personal issues to deliver such a poor performance, he could have changed TV network TRT would have been happy to take him on. As for Mehmed Fetihlar Sultani, the team have done tremendous work, sadly there is only one season left as history was unkind to Mehmet who ended up being poisoned & dying from it, the world would have been a better place I believe if he conquered Vatican, ironically Vatican itself & Catholic Spain ended up being taken over by Z people, & we are seeing today wheee it is leading to, by the way a good introduction to this was in Payitaht Sultani Abdulhamid II, another masterpiece that chronicles how events today took shape with the ascendancy of Zionism.

Just finished watching Mehmet Fetihlar Sultani Season 3 finale, their approach to filming is superior to Mehmet Bozdag using the same actors for flashback, they also used the national TV channel TRT which also shows that they are not greedy & not looking to maximise profit as does Mehmet Bozdag who prefers using private TV Channels like ATV to maximise profit, his refusal to use the same actors in flashbacks is because he does not want to want to pay the original actors to use up their previous filmed clips, a sign of greed & money pinching, the disaster that was a Orhan with a love story is going to be repeated with Love & Throne, the title of the Series says it all

I prefer the focus to be on the history than on the romance, this is where Mehmed Fetihlar Sultani wins over Bozdag’ short lived Orhan, & he is repeating the same mistake with a Seljuk love story, chronicle the history not the romance is what I’m interested in.

I will probably watch it despite my health issues (Long COVID) & the fact I am very cross with Mehmet Bozdag for massacring the Orhan Series with a ridiculous finale namely butchering his reputation as a good storyteller. Thank Allah we have Mehmet Fetihlar Sultani to compensate for his disaster.

Just watched the episode, Bozdag wanted to make it more romantic than historical, which is fine, but the ratings disagreed & ATV not being a charity decided to pull the plug on the project, it could have been great but Bozdag made his gamble & lost by confusing the audience, the ego battle between him & Burak O didn’t help, ah also about money pinching, I noticed most Bozdag series when they move on in the storyline & shed actors they do not show them in future instalments or seasons, unlike series like Mehmet Fetihlar Sultani show a more generous approach where previous actors get to be shown again through flashbacks, I think Bozdag is being punished by Allah for stinginess, he also most probably suffered some burnout, in a period where he lost his own father too, not easy. Rushed episode, like the last episode of Destan, will the pattern repeat & he gets cursed with the one season fate like Emre Konuk suffered too?

I am not finished, Bozdag should learn from the producers & team chronicling Mehmet Fetihlar Sultani, this is what is a good template for historical stories…

A great disappointment, like Destan which also lasted only one season, Bozdag has lost his touch, his best endeavour was Ertugrul, he capitalised on that with Osman, but it didn’t last & badly petered out with Orhan, I still watch these historic shows as they are an entertaining way of visiting past Turks history, but I do cringe when they fool around adding fictional characters & exaggerated story lines, for example trying to appeal to younger audiences ruined Orhan, if you make historical shows have the decency to try to stick to some minimum standards in chronicling ancient leaderships. The fate of the Seljuk series might be as short lived as Orhan & Destan if Bozdag keeps these story telling formulas.

Very disappointed the Orhan series will only last one season, the blame is squarely on Burak O & Mehmet B ego battles, when a team quarrels about what they do it disenfranchise the viewership, so they got very bad ratings as a result, & the series cancellation, I wonder who will take up the torch to give a dignified closure to Sultan Orhan chronicle, I think Bozdag got badly stung & turned his attention to chronicle the heydays of the Seljuk instead, I wonder if he will use the same character that played the Sultan Kurkubat in Ertugul, husband of actress who played Halime Seljuk, a solid choice as he played the role very well in Dirilis Ertugul. Sadly this still leaves a very bitter taste for me, but as I keep saying Muslims should not just be consumers but should act to please Allah & lift our Ummah from this paralysis we are in since the demise of the Muslim Caliphate with Sultan Abdulhamid II.
